GROWING

• Soil Type: 2 types of volcanic soils, one is Cambrian soils made of decomposed Ironstone, Dolerite, Jasper, and Green Basalt, and one is mostly alluvial 
• Mt Camel Ranges Vineyard of the Chalmers family in Northern Heathcote (VIC), and an organically farmed vineyard near Mt Torbreck and Goulburn River

WINEMAKING

• 100% Syrah grapes, half-grown by the Chalmers family on the volcanic slopes of Mt Camel in Northern Heathcote, half came from an organic vineyard on the Goulburn River bank, facing Mt Torbreck with 45 years-old vines yielding very high-quality fruit. 
• Fruits were handpicked at the ideal acidity level.

WHAT’S GOOD?

• A light(er) Syrah that is closer to a Pinot-esque than Syrah. 
• Lively and complex, with the flavor of crunchy blue and red fruits. 
• Great minerality combined with mouth-watering acidity and freshness.
• A very harmonious and well-structured wine that keeps tempting you for more.

Note from the winemaker:

“This wine has always been a special one for me. It was made as a homage to my dear old Nan who as a child was raised in a remote and very isolated coal mining settlement called Rewanui affectionately known as ‘Siberia’ due to its inhospitable nature. Rewanui was home to a handful of huts that housed the miners and their families. My grandfather was also a steam train driver and I have good memories of riding in the drivers’ cabin of those locomotives when I was a child, so there you go…

I think the 2022 is the tightest version of this wine I have put into a bottle. It is very expressive and the architecture is very much on point. It has density without excessive weight and tannin giving it a very elegant structure. I’m Extremely happy to release this one!”
